If you are renewing for the first time, active or inactive, you must have a total of 270 qualifying real estate course hours, 4 hours of TREC’s Legal Update I, and 4 hours of TREC’s Legal Update II posted to your license record prior to submitting your renewal. If you have been made a supervisor by your broker, you must also complete the 6-hour Broker Responsibility course to renew.
If you submitted a total of 180 hours to satisfy the initial education requirements, you may complete the courses below to satisfy your first renewal.
Effective October 1, 2023, sales agents renewing their license for the first time—both active and inactive —are required to complete an approved 30-hour Real Estate Brokerage course as part of their 90 hours of Sales Agent Apprentice Education (SAE).

Note: If you are a supervising agent you will need to complete the 6-hour broker responsibility course as part of your required education.
Course Completions: Students must participate in each course for the number of hours of credit awarded and daily course segments cannot exceed 12 hours per day. A 30-hour qualifying course cannot be started and completed in less than 3 days and starting and completing more than one qualifying course within the same 3 days is also not permitted. Post-Licensing Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with a minimum of 70%. Within 90 days of the original examination, a student may retest after a failed exam a maximum of one time. Otherwise, students failing the end-of-course examination must repeat the course prior to being eligible to take the end-of-course examination again.
Proctoring Final Exams: The state requires that your final course exam be proctored. You can find full details of the proctoring process here. Upon passing the final course exam you will be asked to sign an affidavit verifying your identity as the student who completed the course and the final course exam.
Reporting: Course completions for students who have an existing TREC license number will be reported to the state.
Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course but are generally one year after order date. Each course has an individual expiration date which is listed in your account.
Certificates: Once The CE Shop has received the signed affidavit, your certificate of course completion will become available to download (and via email). The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic certificate of completion, upon completion of the course. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies. Please refer to your license application to determine if you need to submit your certificate of completion with your license request. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date of your certificate of completion will reflect this.
